What must be remembered, is.
And when you ask about him, the answer is never a generic one. The food you switched two weeks ago, last summer’s allergy, the street he refuses to walk down. All of it remembered, and understood. Whatever you ask, the answer is only ever about him.

Midnight at the animal hospital, and the vet asks about history. No scrolling back through a camera roll: vaccines, medications, allergies, labs. A dozen years, one page, clear.
